- The detection runs once when you open a new tab to provide relevant quick-access buttons
What We Do NOT Access
The Extension does NOT:
- Access, read, or collect your Chrome bookmarks through the browser API
- Track your browsing activity beyond search engine detection

- Transmit your browsing history to any server
- Use cookies or tracking technologies within the extension itself
Data Storage
- Local Only: All search engine detection happens locally in your browser
- No Remote Storage: The Extension does not store or transmit any data to remote servers
- No Analytics: We do not collect analytics or usage data from the Extension
Third-Party Services
Bookmarks Manager Web Application
The Extension displays an embedded iframe from bookmarks-manager.online where you manage your bookmarks. Please note:
- Your bookmarks are stored and managed through the bookmarks-manager.online web application (separate from the Extension)
- The bookmarks-manager.online service has its own privacy policy governing how your bookmarks data is handled
- You must create an account at bookmarks-manager.online to use the full functionality
- All data entered into the bookmarks-manager.online dashboard is subject to that service's privacy policy
Permissions Explanation
History Permission
Required to detect your preferred search engine by analyzing which search engines appear in your browsing history. This allows us to show relevant quick-access buttons (e.g., Gmail for Google users, Outlook for Bing users).
Host Permission (bookmarks-manager.online)
Required to embed the Bookmarks Manager dashboard in your new tab page. This is the core functionality of the Extension.
Data Security
- All processing happens locally in your browser
- We do not maintain servers that store your data
- The Extension code is open source and can be reviewed on GitHub
- We follow Chrome Web Store security best practices
Children's Privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The Extension is intended for general audiences.
