Introduction

Welcome to Bookmarks Manager ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services at bookmarks-manager.online.

By using our service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account with us, we collect:

  • Email Address: Used for account creation and authentication via email/password or Google OAuth

Note: We support two sign-in methods: email/password and Google OAuth ("Sign in with Google"). We do not store your Google account credentials - authentication is handled entirely by Firebase Authentication.

Bookmarks Data

We store the following information about your bookmarks:

  • Bookmark URLs and titles
  • Categories you assign
  • Notes and descriptions you add
  • Creation timestamps
  • Pinned status and organisational preferences

Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent, features used
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address
  • Cookies: We use cookies for authentication and session management
  • Analytics: We use Ahrefs Analytics to understand overall traffic and usage patterns. Ahrefs Analytics is cookieless - it doesn't use cookies or track you individually across sites, and only collects aggregated, non-personally-identifiable traffic data

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To provide, maintain, and improve our bookmark management service
  • Account Management: To create and manage your account, authenticate users via email/password or Google OAuth, and enable features
  • Data Synchronisation: To sync your bookmarks across devices and sessions
  • Security: To protect against unauthorised access, fraud, and abuse
  • Analytics: To understand usage patterns and improve user experience
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of service

Data Storage and Security

Storage Infrastructure

We use Firebase (Google Firebase / Firestore), a secure Backend-as-a-Service platform by Google, to store and manage your data. Your information is stored on secure servers with industry-standard security measures.

Security Measures

  • End-to-end encryption for data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Authentication via Firebase Authentication (email/password and Google OAuth)
  • Firestore security rules ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and authentication mechanisms

Data Retention

We retain your personal information and bookmarks data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your bookmarks and personal data are permanently deleted from our servers.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use Firebase / Google Cloud to host our backend infrastructure. They have access to data only to perform services on our behalf and are obligated to protect it
